The Youth Forum is discussing the potential of Kenyan youth entrepreneurs in Green Business. The format is developed and owned by the youth, including a peer exchange and a panel discussion with the European Union and experts from the public, private and finance sectors. The Youth Forum will also be the starting point to develop creative ideas, based on the Team Europe’s agenda #Stronger Together. The Forum will take place 15 June 2021 from 10 - 11.30 am on Zoom.

In Ghana, cashew-a non-traditional export crop has become a major foreign exchange earner for the country. Predominantly, resource-poor smallholder farmers carry out cashew production in Ghana. Within the agricultural sector, cashew presents huge opportunities for employment and income generation for thousands of people in the transition and northern savannah vegetation zones. Quarcoo (2017) estimated that cashew generated US$ 244 million for the Government of Ghana from a total export of 163,000 MT in 2016. Cashew is one of the crops selected for the Government’s flagship programmes, planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD).

The project seeks to capacitate the youth, women and PWDs in the Asutifi North District (ANDA), who have been rendered jobless, to operate their own enterprises. ANDA has a population of 62,453.33.95 percentage are youth, and 51% are women. 1,200 of the population are Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). Unemployment is high among the youth, women and PWDs. The situation worsened when the Newmont Gold Mining Company acquired over 2,992 hectares of their farmlands for commercial mining purposes. 77.4% of the population who are farmers lost their vocation. They do not have the needed qualification to work in the mining company. Most of the youth have only basic education qualification. Poverty is high in the district, and more youth migrate into the cities for jobs.

The European Parliament is gearing up for the sixth edition of the Sakharov Fellowship for human rights defenders. This was after the fellowship was forced into a remote edition last year. This year's Fellowship is scheduled from 11 - 23 October.
