La résolution du Conseil de sécurité des Nations unies sur la mise en place d'une mission politique des Nations unies chargée de surveiller et de vérifier le cessez-le-feu et la cessation des hostilités permet à la Colombie de franchir un pas supplémentaire vers la paix. L'engagement de la communauté internationale est essentiel pour aider la Colombie à surmonter les séquelles des conflits et de la violence et à jeter les bases d'un avenir pacifique et stable.

La Délégation de l'Union européenne au Canada était parmi les participants à la Célébration Hivernale du Gouverneur Général à Rideau Hall, le 24 janvier. C'est la première fois que la Délégation participait à cette tradition hivernale annuelle qui a attiré 7,000 visiteurs.

European Union provides support for human rights and democratisation projects in Lesotho

The Delegation of the European Union to the Kingdom of Lesotho has awarded three civil society organisations - the Lesotho Council of Non-Governmental Organisations (LCN), the Transformation Resource Centre (TRC) and Women in Law in Southern Africa (WLSA) - grants funded under the 'European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights' (EIDHR). The EIDHR is the EU's key financial mechanism for supporting organisations active in promoting human rights and fundamental freedoms.

 

High Representative Federica Mogherini pledged today to pay a visit to south-east Turkey in the near future, following the postponement of today’s planned visit to Mardin because of the last-minute cancellation of a flight.

The High Representative spoke on the phone with the Governor and the co-mayor of Mardin to express her regret and to confirm her intention to visit the region in the near future.

The next meeting of the high level dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina with Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić and Prime Minister Isa Mustafa, facilitated by Federica Mogherini, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, will take place in Brussels on Wednesday, 27 January. At the meeting the two sides will take stock of the implementation of the existing agreements and discuss the way forward in the dialogue.
