Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, announced the nomination of 24 new Heads of EU Delegations[1].

Luigi SORECA has been nominated as Head of the EU Delegation to Albania. He is currently serving as Director for Security in DG HOME, European Commission.

On 18 July, the European Commission has lifted its “yellow card” for Tuvalu. The yellow card is an official warning of the European Union towards its trading partners in the fight against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. By lifting the card, the European Commission recognises the important progress of Tuvalu in addressing the shortcomings in its fisheries governance.

The rescue of some 800 White Helmets and their families from Syria is an important humanitarian gesture. Their lives had been at imminent risk following the recent escalation of violence in south west Syria. The White Helmets, also known as Syria Civil Defence, are a Syrian volunteer organisation dedicated to saving, protecting and helping civilians during the Syrian conflict.
