Ulaanbaatar, 22 September 2021 – In response to a series of flash floods that have wreaked havoc across different parts of Mongolia in July, the European Union is providing €160 000 (nearly 540 million MNT) in humanitarian aid to assist the most vulnerable communities. The aid will directly benefit 4 000 heavily affected people in some of the hardest hit localities in the provinces Arkhangai, Dornogovi, Govi-Altai, Orkhon, Tuv, Umnugovi and Uvurkhangai.

The European Union thanks the Special Rapporteur for his oral update as requested by this Council last March. We call once again on Myanmar/Burma to resume immediate cooperation with your mandate and grant unrestricted access throughout the country.  We also call on Myanmar to allow the Special Envoy of UN Secretary-General on Myanmar to visit the country and meet with all stakeholders.
