The EU, together with Plan International and UNICEF, organized an event at the UN in Geneva to launch the revised EU Guidelines on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of the Child. The Guidelines, which were adopted yesterday by the EU Foreign Ministers, underline the EU's strong commitment to the fulfillment of all rights for all children. The aim of these Guidelines is to provide general guidance on the measures needed to implement the EU's overarching strategy to promote and protect the rights of all children.
Comemora-se este ano o 25º aniversário da parceria PALOP-Timor Leste com a União Europeia. Este programa de cooperação regional UE – PALOP teve início em 1992 , e em 2007 Timor-Leste tornou-se o sexto membro, tendo o grupo passado a denominar-se PALOP e Timor-Leste (PALOP-TL).
With the support of the EU Delegation to the United Nations Office in Geneva, the University of Geneva organised on 7 March 2017 a public lecture by the European Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, Dimitris Avramopoulos, on "Migration, Security and how they affect the future of Europe". This event was the first conference of the "Centre de compétences en Études Européennes" of the Global Studies Institute in the presence of Professor Dusan Sidjanski, the renowned academic famous for his analyses of European Federalism, whose name will be borne by the new "Centre".
