At their joint session last Thursday (November 19), the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) and Committee on Development (DEVE) held a discussion on the ongoing conflict in Ethiopia’s Tigray region. Setting the stage for the discussion, the Deputy Managing Director for Africa of the European External Action Service (EEAS), Mr Bernard Quintin updated Members of Parliament on the situation and the risks associated with its possible expansion.
In this context, he condemned TPLF’s missile and rocket attacks on the cities of the neighbouring Amhara region last Friday (Bahir Dar and Gondar) and on Eritrea’s capital, Asmara on Saturday. It is important, as he stressed, that “Eritrea has not responded to these acts of provocation”.
