On 17 November 2016 the European Union organised the Brussels Conference on the Central African Republic (CAR). The Conference, which drew delegations from over 80 countries, international organisations and agencies, aimed to mobilise potential partners and donors to help the CAR authorities restore peace and security, renew the social contract and revive the economy. The Conference has also provided a platform for CAR to outline their national strategy and development priorities for the next five years.
The European Union has made available a grant of 20 million euros to the Government of Rwanda to strengthen the performance of economic governance, principally in the area of public financial management and statistics. The agreement for the budget support grant was signed today by the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Claver Gatete in the presence of the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Rwanda, Ambassador Michael Ryan.
