Post Cyclone Recovery Programme (PRCP) State Building Contract (SBC)
This is an emergency response facility by the EU to assist Fiji's recovery and rehabilitation efforts from the Category 5 Tropical Cyclone Winston that hit Fiji on 20 February, 2016. 43 lives were lost and 350.000 people need urgent assistance.
The Fiji reforestation project will result in the establishment of 6 010 hectares of tree plantations consisting of around 7.5 million trees in the three sugarcane sectors of Drasa, Koronubu and Malolo in the sugarcane belt of Viti Levu.
The main objective of the Action is to support the Fiji Electricity Authority to develop capital investment proposals which help Fiji to meet its strategic renewable energy targets and to reduce the country’s dependence on conventional thermal generation.
The programme will initiate specific interventions to facilitate cohesive action amongst the three Cane Producer Associations and various sugarcane stakeholders through the capacity building of the Cane Producer Associations and provision of improved Farmer Advisory Services.
Total Cost (EUR): 1 500 000
EU contracted amount (EUR): 1 500 000
