On 19 September 2016, EUPOL COPPS and GIZ supported a ‘train-the-trainer” drug awareness course in Jericho for the PCP Anti-Narcotics Department. The event was preceded by five weeks of training for the Palestinian police officers to further enhance their capabilities in their fight against drugs.

Due to the Wits campus being closed following student unrest, we have been able to moved the event to the Park Inn Hotel in Sandton - 118 Katherine St, Johannesburg, 2196.

Sufficient, equitable and efficient investment in children is crucial for the full realisation of children's civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights. Investment in children is not only a legal obligation under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, but also an economic strategy for long-term sustainable development. In order to raise attention to the issue of public budgeting for the realisation of children's rights, the EU Delegation to the UN in Geneva, the Permanent Mission of Uruguay, UNICEF and NGO partners, hosted a side-event to the 33rd Session of the Human Rights Council.

On September 21, the European Union and the African Union have signed the 15th contract for financial support to the African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM).
