For 30 years, the development of the Kyrgyz Republic has been aimed at achieving economic growth, mainly through the intensive use of natural resources. The depletion of natural capital due to active exploitation has been exacerbated by poor management that prevents ecosystems from recovering. In recent years, it has become apparent that further movement towards economic growth, without due consideration for environmental and social factors, poses a threat to both current and future generations.

The Austrian Development Agency (ADA) is the Operational Unit of the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC). It is in charge of implementing all bilateral programmes and projects in ADC partner countries and administers its budget.

High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union/Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell had a phone call with the Foreign Minister of the State of Israel, Gabi Ashkenazi, on Friday, 18 September.

They exchanged views on the issues in the bilateral agenda between the EU and Israel and discussed latest developments in the region. Both agreed on a shared, mutual interest in intensifying bilateral cooperation.

Together, we respond to global crises, threats and challenges which cannot be addressed by individual nations acting alone, and require cooperation and coordination based on universal values and rules.

Cooperation between the EU and the UN system, including the UN Secretariat and the various UN Agencies, Funds and Programmes, spans across all policy areas.
