After the completion of his tour of duty, General Datuk Wira Zamrose Bin Mohd Zain the Head of Mission of the International Monitoring Team (IMT) has paid his farewell call to the EU Ambassador, Franz Jessen.
Since 2011 the European Union has been supporting the IMT. Currently the EU is funding its Civilian Protection Component and fielding one Expert on Human Rights and Humanitarian International law. The IMT is tasked to monitor the implementation of the Agreements signed between the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Government of the Philippines.
On 17 February 2017, The EU and the ASEAN were gathered in Vientiane to take stock of the achievements of a 4 year support initiative funded by the EU on Intellectual Property Rights. The project is a EUR 3,8 Million programme implemented by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
On Friday 17 February, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III hosted a dinner in honor of European Union Ambassador Franz Jessen and of European Union member states representatives, including Danish Ambassador Jan Top Christensen, French Ambassador Thierry Mathou, Italian Ambassador Massimo Roscigno and Swedish Ambassador Harald Fries. Embassies of Austria, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Spain and the United Kingdom were also represented. Aside from Secretary Bello, the dinner was attended by 11 high-ranking officials of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
The European Union's Ambassador to Australia H.E. Sem Fabrizi, delivered a speech at the opening of 'Windows on Europe' film screening at the Kino Palace Cinema at Collins Place. (Melbourne, 16 February).
