Federica Mogherini, High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission and her counterpart, Erlan Idrissov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, have today in Astana signed the European Union–Republic of Kazakhstan Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement. The new Agreement will replace the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement that has been in force since 1999 and represents a significant step forward in EU-Kazakhstan relations.

Since the creation of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea in 1975, the European Union has been building a solid relationship with the Government, and is today a trusted and valuable partner, accompanying the people of Papua New Guinea in the political, social and economic development of their country. This year 2017, European Union and Papua New Guinea celebrate 40 years of this partnership.

The following is an overview of the relations between the European Union (EU) and Papua New Guinea (PNG) in a number of areas, including political, economic, trade relations, rural entrepreneurship, investment and trade, water supply, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and education.

EU activities in Papua New Guinea address cross-cutting issues: gender equality, the management of resources in a responsible manner and the fight against HIV/AIDS.

The EU offers jobs to citizens in different ways, it also offers public contracts and provides funding in the form of grants to support projects and organisations.
