The European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean enjoy privileged relations and are natural partners, linked by strong historical, cultural and economic ties. They share a strategic bi-regional partnership, which was launched in 1999 and stepped up significantly in the recent years. The two regions co-operate closely at international level across a broad range of issues and maintain an intensive political dialogue at all levels.

In the first half of 2018 (January-June) advancement of housing units continued at a higher level than in the previous reporting period (July-December 2017). More than 6,000 housing units in the occupied West Bank including East Jerusalem were advanced in different stages of the planning and implementation process. This development will, over several years, enable potentially more than 27,000[1] Israeli settlers to move to the Occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

On 16 July 2018, the Council adopted negotiating directives for the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and the European Commission to negotiate an Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with Uzbekistan. The new agreement will replace the 1999 Partnership and Cooperation Agreement and further strengthen the EU-Uzbekistan relations.


Gestion intégrée des frontières, surveillance des frontières, le genre et les droits de l’homme dans le travail d’un garde-frontière frontière sont entre autres les thèmes abordés au cours de cette semaine.
En effet, du 09 au 13 juillet, une équipe de Conseil et de Formation de la mission s’est rendue en 4ème région du Mali, ceci dans le cadre de ses activités décentralisées. Ils étaient une dizaine de participants à exprimer un vif intérêt pour cette formation.
