The Ambassadors of the European Union and EU Member States were received today by H.E. Prime Minister Tammam Salam to discuss the general situation in the country and the latest developments in EU-Lebanon cooperation.

On Thursday 18 February 2016, European Commissioner Karmenu Vella, responsible for Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, was at the Food and Agriculture Organisation of United Nations (FAO) in Rome to discuss sustainable fisheries and International Ocean Governance.

Let me start by saying that we extend our condolences to the Turkish people, Turkish authorities for what happened yesterday night and still today. These attacks are completely unacceptable. 
We will have today and tomorrow a very important Council. 
First of all, I hope that we will have a deal with the UK, a deal that can make the European Union stronger and the UK part of a stronger Union.

MBABANE, Swaziland - The Kingdom of Swaziland launched an ambitious programme with partners to invest in education and socioeconomic needs of adolescent girls and young women, strongly supported by the Global Fund.

Another terrible attack hit the centre of Ankara tonight. The EU extends condolences to the families of the victims killed in the attack and wishes a speedy recovery to those injured. Our fullest sympathy goes to the Turkish people and authorities.

We are with Turkey and its people in these difficult times and stand by all those who suffer from the consequences of such violence, and of terrorism.


Ce soir, un terrible attentat a une nouvelle fois frappé le centre d’Ankara. L’Union européenne adresse ses condoléances aux familles des personnes qui y ont laissé la vie et souhaite un prompt rétablissement aux blessés. Nous tenons à exprimer notre profonde sympathie à la population et aux autorités turques.

Nous sommes solidaires de la Turquie et de ses citoyens en ces temps difficiles et soutenons tous ceux qui subissent les conséquences de tels actes de violence et du terrorisme.
