This project aims at progressively creating and strengthening a participatory and inclusive constitutional democracy in Fiji through empowering citizens, supporting civil society engagement with public authorities on human rights and the rule of law and monitoring progress of constitutional institutions.
The Fiji micro-project programme will result in the implementation of at least 50 micro-projects throughout the Vanua Levu and Viti Levu sugarcane belt in the Fiji Islands. These projects will mainly be in the area of water supply and sanitation, education access/facilities, rural transport systems (access roads, construction and/or upgrade of existing foot bridges (including suspension bridges), upgrading of small bridges); rural electrification and housing/kitchen upgrade facilities and infrastructure that would encourage income generating initiatives.
The objective of the action is to provide funding to support the preparation and implementation of EBRD investments (loans) in various regions, thereby contributing to saving energy by decreasing the losses and by setting tariff system; incentivising energy saving by end-users, resulting in reduction of greenhouse gases emissions; and generating demonstrable effect, including new products and processes; highlighting significant cost savings potential and environmental benefits; and new ways of financing activities.
The overall objective of the improvement of key services to agriculture is to help cushion the economic and social impact of the sugar sector restructuring by supporting a diversified market-driven agriculture sector. The project purpose (specific objective) is that key services to agriculture are improved and enhanced.
Post Cyclone Recovery Programme (PRCP) State Building Contract (SBC)
This is an emergency response facility by the EU to assist Fiji's recovery and rehabilitation efforts from the Category 5 Tropical Cyclone Winston that hit Fiji on 20 February, 2016. 43 lives were lost and 350.000 people need urgent assistance.
The Fiji reforestation project will result in the establishment of 6 010 hectares of tree plantations consisting of around 7.5 million trees in the three sugarcane sectors of Drasa, Koronubu and Malolo in the sugarcane belt of Viti Levu.
The main objective of the Action is to support the Fiji Electricity Authority to develop capital investment proposals which help Fiji to meet its strategic renewable energy targets and to reduce the country’s dependence on conventional thermal generation.
