Federica Mogherini, haute représentante de l’Union pour les affaires étrangères et la politique de sécurité et vice-présidente de la Commission, a présidé aujourd’hui une réunion des ministres du développement de l’UE, à laquelle ont participé les ministres de l'environnement. La réunion a porté sur les moyens de mettre en œuvre les objectifs de développement durable récemment adoptés par les Nations unies, à New York, et de gérer la crise des réfugiés.


On 19 and 20 October 2015, the EU and ASEAN held a first policy dialogue on Human Rights as part of a one-week visit in Brussels of the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR), the ASEAN Commission on the promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC), the ASEAN Committee on Women (ACW), the ASEAN Committee on the Implementation of the ASEAN Declaration on the Protection and Promotion of the Migrant Workers (ACMW) and the ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC).

Leaders from EU Member States and the Western Balkans agreed on Sunday a 17-point plan to ease the ongoing refugee crisis in the region.

Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy / Vice-President of the Commission, today chaired a meeting of EU Development Ministers – joined by Environment Ministers - which looked at how to put in place the UN Sustainable Development Goals agreed recently in New York, as well as examining ways to further ease the current refugee crisis.

Seventy years ago, representatives of 51 countries agreed the United Nations Charter which entered into force on 24 October 1945; today, 193 countries are members of the United Nations. We have succeeded to build a global community and indeed we need it.The challenges we face today are truly global in nature and an effective world governance has never been so crucial.
