It is a misnomer to think that trade protectionism and tariffs are a way to protect parts of our society that feel they are not benefitting from the global economy. Cutting tariffs actually helps the neediest in society in the way it reduces prices and increases choice in basic imported goods such as food and clothing.

 

With US$901 million, the European Union was the largest destination of exports from the Philippines in March this year – the latest reported month by the Philippines Statistics Authority.  The EU overtook the US and Japan in that month. Over the first quarter, PH exports to the EU were 15.5% of total exports of the Philippines, a growth of 48.3%, making the EU the biggest and fastest growing (by far) export market for Philippine goods.

The European Union Delegation to Australia has partnered with the Human Rights Arts & Film Festival in 2017 to underline its unwavering support on human rights and its commitment to cultural relations.

The EU's Ambassador to Australia, Sem Fabrizi, said the EU was proud to stand by creative film makers, artists and personalities who keep human rights at the heart of conversations in Australia.
