The terrorist attacks in Paris, the crisis in Syria and migration were at the core of the discussion at the EU Foreign Affairs Council today in Brussels. A minute of silence was observed in memory of the victims in Paris. During the meeting Ministers also issued statements on the violence in Burundi amongst other subjects.

The EU Special Representative for Human Rights, Stavros Lambrinidis, paid a second official visit to China between 9-14 November 2015, visiting Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong-SAR.

The visit, which was hosted by the Chinese Ministry for Foreign Affairs and by the EUSR’s main interlocutor, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Li Baodong, provided opportunities for the EU and China to engage in in-depth discussions on human rights at a senior level.

«L'Europe est avec la France et le peuple français.» La haute représentante a fait part de sa tristesse hier soir, dans la foulée des attentats qui ont frappé Paris, ainsi que ce matin, à son arrivée à Vienne, où doit se dérouler le deuxième cycle de négociations en vue d'une solution politique à la crise syrienne. «C'est encore une triste journée», a déclaré Mme Mogherini aux médias. «La réunion à laquelle nous participons ici à Vienne devrait prendre un tout autre sens.»
