Access to education for children in emergency situations is among the top priorities for the EU in its humanitarian funding.
The European Commission has announced today it will further increase the part of humanitarian funding dedicated to getting children into education in crisis zones around the world. In 2018, 8% of the EU's humanitarian budget will go to education in emergencies, which is far above the global average of less than 3%.

The EU and U.S. signed a landmark bilateral agreement on insurance and reinsurance. The signature marks the final step in more than 20 years of discussions and a year of formal negotiations between the European Commission and the U.S. Department of the Treasury and Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. The agreement will boost consumer protection and cut costs and red tape for EU insurers and reinsurers active in the US.

L’Union européenne est prête à contribuer à la stabilisation et au redressement rapide des zones où la violence a diminué, et organisera une deuxième conférence sur la Syrie au printemps 2018. Parallèlement, l’UE continue d’appuyer les pourparlers de Genève dans le but de parvenir à un accord global et crédible.


The EU is ready to contribute to the stabilisation and early recovery of areas where violence has decreased, and will hold a second conference on Syria in Spring 2018. In parallel, the EU continues to support the Geneva talks with the aim of a credible and inclusive agreement.
