The United Nations Resident Coordinator, Mr Alvaro Rodriguez, and the European Union Head of Political, Press and Information, Ms. Luana Reale, have been on a two day joint visit in Mwanza Region. While in the region, the two delegates visited EU and UN supported development projects. They have also taken part in the national commemorations of the World Press Freedom Day held on Tuesday May 3rd, and organized by the Media Institute of Southern Africa – Tanzania Chapter (MISA-Tan) in collaboration with other media stakeholders.

The Instrument contributing to Stability and Peace (IcSP) is the EU's financial instrument to respond quickly and flexibly to conflicts and crisis. IcSP provides funding for short and mid-term actions on conflict prevention, crisis response and peacebuilding around the world, and longer term-assistance to projects linked to global and trans-regional threats.

The terrorist threat is increasingly diverse and geographically diffused. It remains significant, complex, and very unpredictable.

The EU subscribes to and promotes the highest level of nuclear safety across the globe. We work in bilateral and regional settings and with relevant multilateral organisations to ensure the continuous improvement of nuclear safety and effective nuclear safeguards. Outreach in this area is funded by a dedicated financial instrument established under the EURATOM Treaty.

The EU is committed to a balanced, comprehensive and integrated policy on drugs. It prioritizes equally the health and wellbeing of the citizens and countering drug-related crime. It strives to provide World-wide alternatives for income in drugs-producing countries and to control the fastly appearing new substances and the abuse of Internet for trade and distribution of drugs.

The Energy Union Communication ("A Framework Strategy for a Resilient Energy Union with a Forward-Looking Climate Change Policy") of 25 February 2015 and the European Council Conclusions of 19-20 March 2015 recognised the importance of the external dimension of the Energy Union and asked for greater engagement on energy diplomacy. On 20 July 2015, the Foreign Affairs Council adopted Council Conclusions on EU Energy Diplomacy, which included an EU Energy Diplomacy Action Plan.
