Election observation gives the opportunity to assess an electoral process according to international standards. The EU is a leading global player in providing and financing electoral assistance complementary to election observation.

Upon the invitation of a foreign country organising democratic elections, the EU can decide to deploy an Election Observation Mission to the country's elections in consultation with the European Parliament and Member States.

Las misiones de observación electoral de la UE tienen por objeto promover la democracia y los derechos humanos en un marco de cooperación con los países terceros. El despliegue de observadores electorales es un instrumento de acompañamiento a estos países en la organización de elecciones democráticas y en la promoción de la confianza de los ciudadanos en el proceso electoral. 

The Japanese Government has provided over €464,000 to support two companies operating in the Jericho Agro Industrial Park (JAIP): Hawamdeh, and Rihana.  These companies are the third and fourth beneficiaries under the Palestinian Authority's PRIDE (Partnership for Regional Investment, Development & Employment) Programme of Incentives to JAIP. The Japanese contribution is being channelled through the PEGASE[1] mechanism.
