I know you have been standing or sitting here all day so I'll be brief. I know that the main focus of the day has been Syria and I will say a few words about that as well, but let me say that we had a very good Quartet meeting on the situation in the Middle East.
On 19 and 20 October 2015, the EU and ASEAN held a first policy dialogue on Human Rights as part of a one-week visit in Brussels of the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR), the ASEAN Commission on the promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC), the ASEAN Committee on Women (ACW), the ASEAN Committee on the Implementation of the ASEAN Declaration on the Protection and Promotion of the Migrant Workers (ACMW) and the ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC).
The ongoing detention of a number of human rights lawyers and defenders by Chinese public security forces in unknown locations, without access to legal counsel or visits from their relatives, continues to raise serious questions about China's stated commitment to strengthening the rule of law.
