On 23 October, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, and U.S. Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo, met via telephone to discuss a range of issues of common interest in the context of the Transatlantic Partnership.

While Serbia faces increasing numbers of new daily cases of COVID-19 and more people are hospitalised, the European Union continues to honour its commitment to stand by the country and its people. The EU funds have now secured the employment of about 200 medical and administrative staff as well as new equipment to effectively help people in need across Serbia.

The European Union congratulates Luis Arce on his election as President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia in the general elections held on 18 October. It also pays tribute to the people of Bolivia who have shown a strong commitment to electoral democracy by turning out in high numbers despite the COVID-related challenges and peacefully exercising their democratic rights.
