Ambassador Robert van den Dool, is appointed as the new European Union Ambassador and head of Delegation of the European Union to Sudan.

Sudan is the third largest country and the ninth largest population in Africa. Just like Europe, Sudan is united in diversity of languages, religions, cultures and ethnic groups.

Sudan lies at a crossroad between Sub-Saharan Africa, North Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, and is a country of origin, destination and transit at the centre of the migratory route linking East Africa with Libya, Egypt and eventually the EU.

The EU is active in a wide range of topics, from human rights to transport and trade. A list of topics which summarise what the EU does in a specific area, useful links to relevant bodies, laws and documents.
