The European Union Commissioner for Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Karmenu Vella, who is visiting Kenya from 25th-27 May 2016 to participate in the second session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA 2) today visited the Ivory Burning site at the Nairobi National Park, where he met Dr Richard Leakey, Chairman of the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS).

Dear Ministers and Attorney General,

It is a pleasure to be here today to open the second High Level Dialogue on Security and Justice. Five years have passed since the first round – and these have not been easy years for the security of many Mexicans and Europeans.

Acabo de llegar a México y es un placer comenzar mi visita con tantos amigos aquí y tener la oportunidad de dirigirme no solo a una audiencia mexicana, sino a toda América Latina y el Caribe. We first met in Santiago less than two years ago. I visited the headquarters of Celac and addressed a speech on EU- Latin America, during the Italian presidency of the EU.

The decision of the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan to conditionally release Khadija Ismayilova, a prominent investigative journalist, marks a further step in progress towards Azerbaijan's compliance with its international commitments and contributes to the enhancement of relations between the European Union and Azerbaijan.

Finally, Nadiya Savchenko is free and back in her country. The Ukrainian pilot was released today from a Russian prison - in exchange for the release of two Russian prisoners, in an overdue gesture of human compassion.

We wish her a prompt recovery after her long imprisonment.

We wish to inform you about changes in the EU regulations regarding biocidal products that could affect exports from Canada to the European Union. Pursuant to regulation (EU) No 528/2012, beginning 1 March 2017 manufactured goods treated with or incorporating an unapproved biocidal product can no longer be placed on the EU market.
