The EU has invested an additional €17.6 million to support over 8,500 newly selected African students and staff to participate in Erasmus+ in 2019. This increase in Erasmus+ funding is one more step towards the commitment announced by President Jean-Claude Juncker in his State of the Union speech in September 2018 to have supported 35,000 African students and researchers by 2020.

First of all I would like to thank you, Sokol, and all the staff of the NIPAC support office and beneficiary institutions. You have shown hard work, dedication and commitment during the preparations of this IPA 2018 programme.



On the occasion of the International Day of Democracy, the European Union reaffirms its commitment towards democracy as a fundamental right of every human being. Every woman and every man has to be free to participate to the political, economic and social life of her or his country. No one should fear to speak up, to demonstrate peacefully, to go to vote or to expect fair and inclusive policies from a government. Democracy can only function if participation and trust between democratic state institutions, governments and citizens are guaranteed.

Alhamisi, 12 Septemba 2019, Kilosa – Morogoro: Mkuu wa Wilaya ya Kilosa akimwakilisha Mkuu wa Mkoa wa Morogoro, mwakilishi wa Umoja wa Ulaya (EU) na Mkurugenzi Msaidizi wa Shirika la HELVETAS wamezindua maghala sita ya kuhifadhia nafaka ambayo yamejengwa au kukarabatiwa na Mradi wa Kupunguza upotevu wa Mpunga wakati na baada ya mavuno (RIPOMA), maghala hayo yapo wilaya ya Kilosa na Mvomero na yanawanufaisha zaidi ya wananchi 15,000.

The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) has joined hands with the EU to co-fund Indian applicants in 30 calls launched under Horizon 2020 on Health, Medical Technology, Agriculture, Food Security, Bioenergy, Bioeconomy, Biotechnology, Bio-Materials.

La Alta Representante de la Unión Europea para Asuntos Exteriores y Política de Seguridad/Vicepresidenta de la Comisión Europea, Federica Mogherini, se reunió el jueves en Bogotá con el Presidente de Colombia, Iván Duque Márquez.

Durante la reunión, ambos discutieron el progreso logrado en las relaciones UE-Colombia en los últimos cinco años y las perspectivas para fortalecer aún más su cooperación, incluso a través de un nuevo marco político.


The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini met on Thursday in Bogota with the President of Colombia, Iván Duque Márquez.

During the meeting, they discussed the progress achieved in EU-Colombia relations in the last five years and perspectives for further strengthening their partnership, including through a new political framework.
