Over the past few months, the world as we know it has changed in ways we could not have imagined a year ago. However, even before the pandemic hit, the path to a sustainable future was under threat.

On Friday 23 October, starting at 00:01 (UTC+2 Brussels time) and for 24 hours, the World Press Clubs Alliance for Climate presents "24 Hours for Climate", the longest online conference ever organised on climate action and innovation. At the initiative of the Press Club Brussels Europe, the Alliance represents one hundred press clubs from around the world committed to sharing actionable knowledge and best practices to fight climate change.

НУР-СУЛТАН – 23 октября состоялось пятое онлайн заседание Платформы диалога высокого уровня по вопросам экономики и бизнеса между ЕС и Казахстаном под председательством Премьер-Министра Республики Казахстан Аскара Мамина. Во встрече приняли участие ведущие европейские компании и главы дипломатических миссий стран-членов ЕС во главе с Послом ЕС в Казахстане Свен-Оловом Карлссоном.

NUR-SULTAN – The EU-Kazakhstan High-Level Platform of dialogue on economic and business matters held its fifth (video) meeting in Nur-Sultan on 23 October, chaired by Prime Minister Askar Mamin. The event brought together representatives of business and EU Heads of Mission led by the Ambassador of the EU to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sven-Olov Carlsson.

Both nature and biodiversity are essential for life on Earth. We must protect nature to tackle climate change, prevent biodiversity loss and protect people from the spread of devastating pandemics. Climate and biodiversity were high on the EU agenda over the past week, which kicked off with discussions by Heads of Member States at the European Council before the weekend, the launch of the EU Green Week on Monday, as well as participation in the climate and biodiversity talks at EXPO 2020. The week comes to an end with the Environment Council.

European maritime security has significantly improved over the last years on several dimensions including international or regional cooperation, information sharing, capability development, risk management and training. This is the conclusion of a new report about the implementation of the European Union maritime security strategy action plan, developed by the European Commission together with the European Defence Agency and the European External Action Service.
