This year's report of the UN Special Rapporteur on FoRB focuses on the state and religion relationships and their impact on freedom of religion or belief. Although international law does not prescribe any particular form of state-religion relationship, it does impose a duty on the State to be an impartial guarantor of freedom of religion or belief to all.

Countering piracy off the Somali coast, training Palestinian Civilian Police, advising the Iraqi government on civilian security, empowering Malian authorities to fight terrorism: 5,000 men and women work in challenging and at times dangerous circumstances to increase stability in Africa, Europe and the Middle-East. These civilians and military may serve far from home, but they contribute directly to our own security inside the European Union.

The kick off event of the regional joint European Union (EU) and Council of Europe (CoE) Programme, ROMACTED “Promoting Good Governance and Roma Empowerment at Local Level”, took place on 22 February 2018 in Tirana. The event brought together senior representatives of Albanian local authorities, community action groups, Roma and pro-Roma civil society, development agencies and international community.
