The Ebola outbreak mobilized a rich mix of expertise - political, humanitarian, public health, development, research, military, and security - by many DGs/Institutions. The existence of solid inter-institutional cooperation on Ebola and excellent relations with global partners and affected countries, proved crucial to organise this important international conference on Ebola in a very short timeframe.

Les responsables de ces attentats doivent être traduits en justice. "The terrorist attacks on two churches in Lahore this morning, resulting in the loss of innocent lives and scores of seriously injured, is another instance of violence aimed at innocent victims. Those responsible for the attacks must be brought to justice. It is essential that Pakistani authorities take swift action against all groups preaching hate and sowing division within society. Freedom of religion or belief is a central tenet of democratic societies. 


President of the European Parliament Mr. Martin Schulz visits China

On 15-18 March 2015 the President of the European Parliament Mr. Martin Schulz visited China. The program included: meetings with H.E. Mr. Xi Jinping, the President of China, H.E. Mr. Yang Jiechi, the State Councillor of China, H.E. Mr. Zhang Dejiang, the Chairman of the National People's Congress, as well as the press conference and speech at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Mr. Schulz also visited Tianjin.



On Monday 16 March, as part of the ongoing nuclear negotiations with Iran, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini will host a meeting in Brussels with the Foreign Ministers of Germany, Frank Walter Steinmeier, of France, Laurent Fabius, of Great Britain, Philip Hammond, and of Iran, Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Ahead of this meeting HRVP Federica Mogherini will meet bilaterally with Foreign Minister Javad Zarif at 17:15.

Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, will visit Havana on 23 and 24 March. This is the first visit of a European Union High Representative to Cuba and comes at a crucial time for the negotiations between the EU and Cuba. She will discuss with her Cuban interlocutors developments in the country and perspectives for EU-Cuba cooperation.
