EU and Chinese leaders meet today in Beijing to underline and reinforce their strategic partnership and commitment to the rules-based global order, including as regards trade, combatting climate change and nuclear non-proliferation. They also discuss an investment protection agreement currently under negotiation. Together, the EU and China make up a third of global GDP.


President Isaias Afewerki of the State of Eritrea carries out a 3-day visit to Ethiopia. President Isaias Afwerki arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in the morning hours of today, July 14 for official visit at an invitation of Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed of the Federal Republic of Ethiopia. Upon arrival at the Bole International Airport, President Isaias was accorded warm welcome by Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed, senior Ethiopian officials, religious leaders and a number of Addis Ababa residents.

The 20th Summit between the European Union and the People's Republic of China held today in Beijing has underlined that this partnership has reached a new level of importance for our own citizens, for our respective neighbouring regions and for the international community more broadly.

The Somalia Partnership Forum is organised by the European Union together with the Federal Government of Somalia and Sweden. The event aims to mobilise the international community to step up support for Somalia's efforts to build a more secure and prosperous future following years of conflict. The ministerial level meeting will take place on 17 July.
