Let me start by thanking Azerbaijan for hosting this very important meeting, and President Aliyev and the participating countries for attending.

On 22 February 2016, Kristalina Georgieva, Vice-President and EC Commissioner of Budget and Human Resources and co-Chairs of the United Nations High-Level Panel on Humanitarian Financing, and Christos Stylianides, EC Commissioner in charge of Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, attended the event organized in the Vatican by the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences and the High-Level Panel on Humanitarian Financing.

Let me say that my first visit to Azerbaijan comes, as you said, at a very important moment in our relationship. We just had an open and very good discussion, not only with you but also with the President [Ilham Aliyev] today. 

La première cessation des hostilités en cinq années de guerre en Syrie a pris effet à minuit, à la suite de l'adoption à l'unanimité de la résolution 2268 par le Conseil de sécurité des Nations unies.

We extend our condolences to the families of the victims and wish a rapid recovery to the injured in the attack.

The European Union remains committed to supporting Somalia and calls on the Somali authorities, the forces of the African Union mission AMISOM and all members of the international community to unite and intensify their efforts to rid the country of terrorism.
