Remarks by High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini at the press conference following the Foreign Affairs Council

The High Representative and EU Foreign ministers discussed the situation in Syria at the beginning of their meeting. The Council held a debate on Venezuela and on Moldova. Foreign ministers had a discussion on the Middle Peace Process with foreign ministers, members of the LAS ministerial delegation on Jerusalem chaired by Jordan (Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Morocco, United Arab Emirates, the Palestinian Authority).

The Cooperation Council between the EU and Kazakhstan took place on Monday 26 February. It welcomed the successful implementation of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement. It discussed areas such as trade and customs, environment and climate change, energy and green economy as well as rule of law and judicial cooperation.

On February 21st, Prime Minister Leona Romeo-Marlin signed the 4.7 million euro 10th EDF works contract together with the Director of DG DEVCO Latin America & The Caribbean - Jolita Butkeviciene and the chosen contractor Lars Vincken Managing Director of Van Boekel Bouw & Infra BV.

Jamaica and the European Union (EU) conducted their 4th political dialogue on 21 February. Both sides committed to further deepen the collaboration on building a more effective partnership for growth and development. The talks which included 10 Ambassadors from European Member States (Belgium, France, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, Bulgaria, The Netherlands, Poland, Romania and Sweden) were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (MFAFT) on Wednesday, February 21st.

Министры иностранных дел обменялись мнениями относительно Республики Молдовы, в том числе касательно реализации Соглашения об ассоциации, взаимодействия ЕС с Молдовой и будущих перспектив в преддверии парламентских выборов. Они также обсудили роль Молдовы в Восточном партнерстве и ее участие в сфере безопасности. По итогам обсуждения Совет принял выводы.

22 лютага 2018 года Савет пастанавіў працягнуць абмежавальныя меры ў дачыненні да Беларусі на адзін год, да 28 лютага 2019 года. Гэтыя меры ўключаюць эмбарга на пастаўкі зброі, забарону на экспарт тавараў для ажыццяўлення ўнутраных рэпрэсій і замарожванне актываў і забарона на ўезд у дачыненні да чатырох асоб у сувязі з нераскрытымі знікненнямі двух апазіцыйных палітыкаў, аднаго бізнесмена і аднаго журналіста ў 1999 і 2000 гадах.
