On 11 July 2017, the EU Agency for Law Enforcement Training (CEPOL) and the ESDC signed a Working Arrangement to enhance cooperation between the two entities in the field of the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP).
Professor Sven Biscop, honorary fellow of the European Security and Defence College, has been awarded the 'Grand Decoration of Honour for Services to the Republic of Austria' by the Federal President, Dr Alexander Van der Bellen. One of the reasons that Prof. Biscop has received this high distinction was his continued support for training and educational activities related to the Common Security and Defence Policy of the European Union.
On 23 June 2017, the sixth cycle of the Advanced Course for Political Advisors came to a close at the National Defence Academy in Vienna. Twenty-seven out of 30 students completed the three-module ESDC training event, which was conducted by Austria, Belgium and the Geneva Centre for Security Policy.
Dr Jochen Rehrl, Chair of the eLCIP board configuration and training manager in the ESDC Secretariat, has been awarded the 'Commendation For Merits' by the Ukrainian Minister of Defence, Stepan Poltorak. He received this award on account of his achievements in the field of training and education activities at the Ivan Chernyakhovsky National Defence University of Ukraine.
This 18th pre-deployment training course took place from 27 to 30 June 2017 in Brussels and was conducted for the first time in cooperation with the Hellenic Army Academy (HAA). Eleven participants from eight countries (Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland, Germany, Greece, Romania, Sweden and the Netherlands) used this opportunity to engage in an enriching exchange of experiences and perceptions and a series of very lively and interactive discussions and exercises.
