From 28 to 30 of September, the Chairman of the European Union Military Committee (CEUMC) General Mikhail Kostarakos, paid an official visit to Finland on the invitation by the Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Jarmo Lindberg.

In Kosovo, an EU rural grant scheme is allowing a meat processing company to bring its
operations into line with the highest international standards, so that it can sell its products
more widely abroad – and can compete better at home against imports.

From the sixties to the eighties, thousands of radioactive lightning rods (lightning conductors)
were installed in the former Yugoslavia. This was under the mistaken assumption that the
higher energy of gamma emitters would make the rods work better.

It is with great pleasure that we would like to inform you that the European Commission, DG NEAR, has launched the Second EU Roma Integration Award for the Western Balkans and Turkey.

Despite progress in recent years, several air quality standards are still widely exceeded in the
European Union’s most densely populated areas, especially from pollutants such as particulate
matter, ground-level ozone, and nitrogen dioxide.

Local governments have a major role to play in promoting social and economic development,
particularly in the enlargement countries. But they are not always familiar with how they
can make the best use of EU funds in carrying out their tasks. That is why the EU has been
helping municipalities in Montenegro to switch to new operating methods in tune with EU
approaches.

Vulnerable young people need careful attention, and in Montenegro the EU has been helping
to prevent separation of children and families, and supporting community-based care and
the provision of better homes.

El Grupo de Donantes G13 bajo la Presidencia Pro Tempore de Suecia, se reunió con el Presidente del Congreso, Mario Taracena y el Presidente del Organismo Judicial, Ranulfo Rojas, para darles a conocer el gran interés y apoyo del G13 al proceso de Reforma Constitucional del Sector Justicia, que se considera fundamental para lograr la consolidación del Estado de Derecho en Guatemala.
