The EU third annual anti-corruption conference was held on the 8 May 2017 at the presidential palace. The Conference was opened by H.E President Muhammad Ashraf Ghani and the EU Special Representative to Afghanistan, Ambassador Franz-Michael Mellbin. During the conference the participants discussed corruption in the judiciary sector and the security sector, illegal mining and prevention of corruption and public education.

"The EU and its member states have not abandoned South Sudan in these critical times. The EU is engaged in programmes strengthening food security and infrastructure, public finance as well as basic services," said De Leo.

The global objective of this Call for Proposals is to contribute to the achievement and implementation of a more sustainable local energy policy by enabling local authorities in the Eastern Neighborhood countries to implement investment projects incorporated in their SEAPs/SECAPs under the Covenant of Mayors and thus bridging the gap between the SEAPs/SECAPs and their practical implementation.

The HR/VP will host a meeting of the European Union, the United Nations, the African Union and the League of Arab States (Libya Quartet) in Brussels on Tuesday 23 May 2017.

The European Union will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the extraordinarily successful Erasmus student mobility program with Australian participants in Melbourne on 23 May.

Erasmus started as a European student mobility programme in 1987 and has since been opened to the rest of the world. The EU's Ambassador to Australia, Sem Fabrizi, said more than 9 million people, including from Australia,  have taken part in Erasmus programs which have aimed to "enrich lives, and open minds" for 30 years.
