The EU and ASEAN have a dynamic partnership in a number of areas, from political dialogue, cooperation in non-traditional security areas, trade and investment relations, connectivity, to cooperation in community building among ASEAN Member States.

For 2014-2020, the EU has significantly increased its development cooperation funds. More than €170 million has been earmarked to fund the ongoing and post-2015 ASEAN regional integration agenda — more than doubling the amount for 2007-2013. In addition, the EU has pledged over €3 billion to reduce poverty and address development gaps in low-income ASEAN countries.

The EU’s external policies, strategies, instruments and missions to support stability, promote human rights and democracy, seek to spread prosperity and support the enforcement of the rule of law and good governance.

Once ratified by all parties, the EU relations with Armenia will be based on the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which was signed on November 24, 2017. The CEPA will provide for strengthening of cooperation in the areas of mutual interest, in particular in political, economic and sectorial fields.

The EU programme of financial and technical cooperation supports Armenia’s ambitious reform agenda. A significant number of projects are currently being carried out across a wide-range of sectors, regions and cities in Armenia.
