Today's explosion outside the Police Academy in Sana'a is the latest of a series of terrorist attacks aimed at destabilising Yemen's transition. Our thoughts and sympathy go to the dozens of victims of today's blast and to their families, as well as to those of the attacks that hit Dhammar on 3 January and Ibb on 31 December.
The E3/EU+3 and Iran will continue negotiations in Geneva on 18 January with a view to making further progress towards a long-term comprehensive solution on the nuclear issue. The meeting will be at Political Directors level, chaired by EU Political Director Helga Schmid.
Please note that no press activities are foreseen during the meeting in Geneva.

Today, the High Representative / Vice President Federica Mogherini appointed Mr Alain Le Roy as the new Secretary General of the EEAS.
Mr Le Roy is a senior French diplomat who has also served as EU Special Representative in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and as United Nations Under Secretary General for Peacekeeping Operations. Mr Le Roy will take up his functions on 1 March 2015. In preparation for this, he will start working at the EEAS as a Special Adviser to the High Representative from mid-January.
The framework agreement signed on 30 December 2014 by the Government of the Republic of Djibouti and the Union for National Salvation is a positive step. It paves the way for immediate short‑term and medium‑term democratic and institutional reforms. The EU encourages the two parties to implement the terms of this agreement fully, thereby helping to advance the rule of law, strengthen the foundations for peaceful democratic life, and put an end to the tensions the country has experienced in recent months.
L'accord-cadre signé par le Gouvernement de la République de Djibouti et l'Union pour le Salut National le 30 décembre 2014 constitue un pas positif. Il ouvre la voie à des réformes démocratiques et institutionnelles immédiates à court et moyen terme. L'UE encourage les deux parties à mettre pleinement en œuvre les termes de cet accord, contribuant ainsi à faire progresser l'Etat de droit, à consolider les bases d'une vie démocratique apaisée, et à mettre fin aux tensions que le pays a connues ces derniers mois.
Recent steps taken by Palestinians and Israelis could aggravate the already tense situation on the ground and bring them further away from a negotiated solution. Both sides should refrain from taking actions which could raise obstacles to the rapid return to the negotiations.
