The European Union welcomes the release of the second report of the Investigation and Identification Team to the Executive Council of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and to the Secretary General of the United Nations on 12 April 2021.


The Council today decided to extend its restrictive measures responding to serious human rights violations in Iran until 13 April 2022. These measures consist of a travel ban and an asset freeze, and a ban on exports to Iran of equipment which might be used for internal repression and of equipment for monitoring telecommunications. In addition, EU citizens and companies are forbidden from making funds available to the listed individuals and entities.


The European Union takes note of the referendum for a new Constitution and of the local elections held on 11 April 2021 in the Kyrgyz Republic.

From 6th  to 9th of April 2021, the Chairman of the EU Military Committee paid an official visit to the Republic of Korea. This was the very first opportunity for an EU Official to pay a visit to Seoul, on the invitation by Korean authorities, since the outbreak of the pandemic.

L’Ambassadeure IONETE a présenté les félicitations et les vœux de succès de l’UE au Président Mohamed Bazoum et aux nouvelles institutions issues du processus électoral qui vient de s’achever.
