In the past few months several EU politicians have been denied entry when arriving at the Russian border. The Russian authorities justified these refusals by referring to the inclusion of these individuals on a confidential "stop list".

After each of these refusals, the EU and the Member States whose nationals were affected had repeatedly requested transparency about the content of this list.


Ces derniers mois, plusieurs responsables politiques de l'UE ont été refoulés à la frontière russe. Les autorités du pays ont justifié ces décisions par le fait que ces personnes figuraient sur une  «liste d'exclusion» confidentielle.
L'UE et les États membres dont les ressortissants ont été refoulés ont demandé à chaque fois que la transparence soit faite sur le contenu de cette liste.


Two years after the adoption of the EU Cybersecurity Strategy the Second High-level Conference on 28 May provided an overview of the state of play of the implementation of the main priorities of the Strategy and showcased highlights of its main actions.

Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, Mr. Donald Tusk, President of the European Council, and Mr. Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission, met in Tokyo on 29 May 2015 for the 23rd Summit between Japan and the European Union (EU).

The main expected results of the project implementation are the following: power consumption reduced for the public electric transport system's own needs by about 10% that will assist the general CO2 emmissions reduction; the electric public transport of Kramatorsk operational capacity is secured.


The EU has been supporting Burundi in its efforts to entrench democracy since the Arusha Agreements put an end to years of civil war and lay the foundations for a new era.


Depuis la signature des accords d'Arusha, qui ont mis fin à des années de guerre civile et jeté les bases d'une ère nouvelle, l'UE n'a cessé de soutenir les efforts déployés par le Burundi pour consolider la démocratie. Les élections législatives et présidentielle qui doivent se tenir cette année marquent une étape importante du processus de démocratisation du pays.



On 27 May Nebraska became the 19th State in the United States to repeal the death penalty.

This is a historic step by the Nebraska Legislature, while the worldwide movement towards the abolition of capital punishment continues to grow.

The European Union opposes the death penalty and will continue - in all international fora - to promote and support the abolition of such cruel punishment, for the enhancement of human dignity.
