On 6 and 7 May 2015 the European External Action Service (EEAS) Security Policy and Conflict Prevention Directorate hosted peace mediation experts from sixteen Regional and International Organisations in Brussels, including the United Nations, the League of Arab States, the African Union and the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe.


Les 6 et 7 mai 2015, la direction de la politique de sécurité et de la prévention des conflits du service européen pour l’action extérieure (SEAE) a réuni à Bruxelles des spécialistes de la médiation pour la paix issus de seize organisations régionales et internationales, notamment les Nations unies, la Ligue des États arabes, l’Union africaine et l’Organisation pour la sécurité et la coopération en Europe.

The deadly attack against MONUSCO troops which took place in North Kivu on 6 May challenges MONUSCO's mandate as specified in United Nations Security Council Resolution 2211.

It is the second attack on peacekeepers in a few days' time. The UN mission is there on behalf of the international community to protect civilians and to contribute to the neutralization of armed groups in eastern DRC. Any attack on MONUSCO is an attack on the international community.
