Recent peaceful protests have led to a disproportionate reaction by the Gambian security forces.

The EU is particularly concerned about the fate of Mr. Solo Sandeng and other opposition politicians who took part in the protest, as well as on reports on ill-treatment of persons taken into custody.

Gambia has taken on commitments under international conventions and the Cotonou agreement.

EU High Representative and Vice-President of the European Commission, Federica Mogherini, today led a delegation of Commissioners on a high level visit to Iran to mark a new beginning in the bilateral relations.

The two sides agreed on the need to develop a broad and comprehensive agenda for enhanced bilateral cooperation, while they both stay fully committed to implementation of the JCPOA agreement in Iran's nuclear programme.

1.    A high-level dialogue on migration was held in Abidjan on 16 April 2016 between H.E. Mr Abdallah Albert Toikeusse Mabri, Côte d’Ivoire's Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Mr Bert Koenders, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, who was visiting Côte d’Ivoire on behalf of Ms Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission.


In Pristina for talks with leading political figures and civil society, the EU High Representative Federica Mogherini stressed the need for all Kosovo to unite behind the European agenda. "Kosovo is Europe", she said, and it is important to continue on the long road to European integration.
