The Commission adopted its 2022 Work Programme, setting out the next steps in its bold and transformative agenda towards a post-COVID-19 Europe that is greener, fairer, more digital and more resilient. This Commission Work Programme contains 42 new policy initiatives across all six headline ambitions of President von der Leyen's Political Guidelines, building on her 2021 State of the Union speech.

21/10/2021 - The Straits Times - The world’s centre of gravity is moving to the Indo-Pacific region, in geo-economic and geo-political terms. Recently, the decision by Australia, the UK and the US to deepen their security and defence ties (the so-called AUKUS group) has certainly triggered a lot of debate on the underlying dynamics in the region and how partners can best respond.

Each EU missions works in the framework of a comprehensive approach. The mission works in agreement and coordination with the EU Delegations in the same area and in the framework of EU regional policies.

Upon the invitation of a foreign country organising democratic elections, the EU can decide to deploy an Election Observation Mission to the country's elections in consultation with the European Parliament and Member States.

Election observation gives the opportunity to assess an electoral process according to international standards. The EU is a leading global player in providing and financing electoral assistance complementary to election observation.
