The National Parliament of Papua New Guinea has taken an important step repealing the death penalty and commuting the sentences of all prisoners on death row to life imprisonment.

The European Union welcomes this decision by Papua New Guinea, which is a further step towards the universal abolition of the death penalty.

Les affrontements intercommunautaires de décembre 2021, dans la région de l’Extrême Nord du Cameroun, ont fait des dizaines de victimes. Ils ont aussi causé le déplacement de plus de 33 000 personnes à l’intérieur du pays et plus de 60 000 autres vers le Tchad. Ce nouveau financement permettra à la Croix-Rouge camerounaise de fournir une aide humanitaire immédiate, afin de répondre aux besoins les plus urgents de ces déplacés.
