The European Union Delegation, the Heads of Mission of EU Member States present in Harare and the Head of Mission of Switzerland issue the following statement in Zimbabwe:

The Heads of Mission of the EU and Switzerland express their deep concern at reports of intimidation and violence against political candidates in the run up to the Bikita West by-election.

The Heads of Mission note the obligation of the authorities to protect the democratic rights of all citizens. It is the responsibility of the Government of Zimbabwe to ensure that justice is served.

A closing event marked the end of a successful EU-funded twinning project, which aimed to build competencies of Georgian employment services to help unemployed people find jobs. Implementing partners from EU Member States presented the main outcomes of the project.

Nesta terça, dia 31 de Janeiro, pelas 9.00 horas, no Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas (INEP), terá lugar a apresentação do esboço do primeiro Mapeamento e Cartografia do Setor Cultural Guineense, realizado pela ADPP Guiné-Bissau, Netos de Bandim e USSOFORAL, no âmbito do projeto "Promoção da Economia Criativa", financiado pela União Europeia.

The objective of the Action is to promote sustainable development of the Partner Countries and to facilitate closer cooperation within the region of Central Asia and between Central Asia and the EU.

On Monday, 30 January 2017, the European Union (EU) and BRAC-Liberia held an inception workshop at Palm Spring Resort, Congo Town, Monrovia to launch the project ‘Supporting the poor and food and nutrition insecure to react to crises and strengthen resilience’.

The Kwame Nkrumah continental awards for 2016 was presented during the official opening of the 28th African Union Heads of State and Government Assembly in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 30 January 2017.  The awards were presented by President Alpha Condé, new Chair of the African Union and Dr. Dlamini Zuma, Chairperson of the AU Commission.  TheAward aims to encourage researchers contributing to the wellbeing and improved quality of life for the African citizens.  The EU has sponsored the prestigious Kwame Nkrumah Scientific Awards since 2009.
