The EU priorities at the United Nations and the 72nd United Nations General Assembly (September 2017 – September 2018), as adopted by the Council at its 3557th meeting held on 17 July 2017. The EU welcomes the adoption by the UN Security Council of Resolution 2393 which renews the authorization of the cross-border humanitarian operations into Syria. These are desperately needed by 3 million people who still cannot be reached by any other means. The EU is also deeply concerned by the continued lack of humanitarian access to the 13.1 million people in need of assistance throughout Syria, including over 1.3 million living in siege-like conditions.
The ability of the Ukrainian National Police to protect and serve communities in remote areas has been strengthened following a donation of 30 off-road vehicles by the EU Advisory Mission Ukraine (EUAM). These resilient Nissan Patrols should help to improve safety and security in such regions by enabling the police to patrol a larger area and respond more quickly to incidents. The donated Nissan Patrols were previously in use in the EU Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) and have become available as that Mission is downsizing.
