Aujourd'hui, la Commission européenne a reçu l'autorisation et les directives du Conseil de l'UE afin de lancer des négociations sur un nouvel accord de partenariat avec les pays africains, des Caraïbes et du Pacifique (ACP).

Aujourd'hui, la Commission européenne a reçu l'autorisation et les directives du Conseil de l'UE afin de lancer des négociations sur un nouvel accord de partenariat avec les pays africains, des Caraïbes et du Pacifique (ACP).

La Commission européenne se réjouit de la décision du Conseil de l'UE qui permettra d'ouvrir des négociations avec le Groupe des États ACP dans les semaines à venir. Pour rappel, le cadre actuel qui régit les relations EU-ACP, connu sous le nom d'accord de Cotonou, expirera en février 2020.

Today, foreign affairs ministers and defence ministers discussed the implementation of the EU Global Strategy in the area of security and defence. The Council then adopted conclusions which highlight the significant progress in strengthening cooperation in the area of security and defence and provide further guidance on next steps.

On the occasion of the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, the European Union reaffirms once again its strongest commitment to prevent, condemn and eradicate all forms of torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. Despite the absolute prohibition of torture under international law, it continues to be practiced around the world either in isolated cases or systematically, through different forms. Torture can target everyone – men, women, and children. Torture is an inexcusable crime for which each perpetrator has to be prosecuted and brought in front of justice.
