Guatemala maintains comprehensive relations with the European Union that include political dialogue, an extensive cooperation programme and a beneficial trade regime. The EU has also played an important role in supporting the application of peace agreements.

Inició sus actividades en 1997 como Delegación de la Comisión Europea tras la firma de los Acuerdos de Paz que propiciaron la intensificación de las acciones de cooperación entre Guatemala y la Unión Europea. A partir del 1 de diciembre del 2009 pasó a ser la Delegación de la Unión Europea en Guatemala.

Guatemala mantiene con la Unión Europea relaciones muy extensas que abarcan el diálogo político, un amplio programa de cooperación y un régimen comercial favorable. Además, la UE ha sido un actor importante en apoyo de la aplicación de los Acuerdos de Paz.

La contribución de la UE a Guatemala para el período 2014-2020 asciende a 166.8 millones de euros. Los principales sectores de cooperación son: la seguridad alimentaria, la resolución de conflictos, la paz y la seguridad y la competitividad.

The EU offers jobs to citizens in different ways, it also offers public contracts and provides funding in the form of grants to support projects and organisations.
