L'Union européenne (UE) a annoncé qu'elle a alloué jusqu'à 60 millions d'euros (soit 60 milliards de kips ou 75 millions de dollars) au Laos dans le cadre de son programme de coopération bilatérale pour la période 2014-2015, afin d'y améliorer l’enseignement élémentaire et la sécurité alimentaire et nutritionnelle et d'y renforcer la bonne gouvernance, ainsi que l'État de droit et les droits de l'homme.

The 33rd EU-China Dialogue on Human Rights will be held on Monday, 8 December 2014 at the Headquarters of the European External Action Service (EEAS) in Brussels.

A joint press conference will be held following the conclusion of the meeting at approximately 18.30 with Gerhard Sabathil, Director for East Asia and the Pacific in the EEAS and Li Junhua, Director General for International Organisations and Conferences, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China.

The murder of US photojournalist Luke Somers and South African teacher Pierre Korkie earlier today during a rescue operation is yet another terrible example of senseless terrorist violence.

The EU expresses its sincere condolences to their families and colleagues. 

We reiterate our firm commitment and continuing contribution to the efforts of the international community to tackle terrorist violence, in Yemen and the broader region.

High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini, together with Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn and Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides, will pay an official visit to Turkey on 8 and 9 December.

Thank you very much. It is a pleasure to be here together with Commissioner Hahn. We came to Sarajevo for our first joint visit – not the last one, the next joint visit is in a couple of days. So, this is telling you something about the new way in which the new Commission started to work: hand in hand, close cooperation and coordinated approach.

Mme Federica Mogherini, haute représentante de l’Union pour les affaires étrangères et la politique de sécurité/vice-présidente de la Commission européenne, M. Johannes Hahn, commissaire chargé de la politique européenne de voisinage et des négociations d’élargissement, et M. Christos Stylianides, commissaire pour l’aide humanitaire et la gestion des crises, se rendront en visite officielle en Turquie les 8 et 9 décembre.

The High Representative of the European Union for the Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and Vice President of the Commission, Federica Mogherini, has decided to appoint Catherine Ashton as her Special Advisor for facilitating the nuclear talks with Iran, following the extension of the agreement on 24November. To ensure the continuity of negotiations, which require full-time dedication, Catherine Ashton will facilitate the talks and  report regularly to the High Representative.

Another full agenda for Federica Mogherini this week included attending the NATO Foreign Ministerial, meeting with US State Secretary John Kerry for the EU-US Energy Council, and participating in the OSCE Ministerial Council, among others.
