In response to floods that swept across several parts of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) since August, the European Union has released more than 82 000 EUR (742,000,000 LAK) in humanitarian funding to assist the most vulnerable communities. This aid will directly benefit 5,000 people who been heavily affected across the north-western province of Oudomxay, which is the hardest hit.     

The European Union Ambassador to Fiji, Tuvalu, and the Pacific, HE Andrew Jacobs is attending the EU supported Coalition of Atoll Nations on Climate Change (CANCC) Leaders Summit with Head of States and Government in Funafuti, Tuvalu this week.

On 6 and 7 October a two day conference on e-infrastructure took place in Tbilisi, organized by EU-funded project EaPConnect . The event aimed to serve as a platform for collaboration on policy and research and supports community building in e-Infrastructures between the Eastern Partnership region and the EU Member States.

2016 წლის 7 ოქტომბერს თბილისში ევროკავშირის მიერ დაფინანსებული პროექტის ,,აღმოსავლეთ პარტნიორობა Connect“–ის ორგანიზებით გაიმართა ორდღიანი კონფერენცია ელექტრონული ინფრასტრუქტურის (e–ინფრასტრუქტურის) საკითხებზე. ღონისძიების მიზანი იყო e–ინფრასტრუქტურის პოლიტიკისა და კვლევის სფეროში თანამშრომლობის პლატფორმის შექმნა და თანამეგობრობის ჩამოყალიბება აღმოსავლეთ პარტნიორობის რეგიონსა და ევროკავშირის წევრ ქვეყნებს შორის.

Significant changes will be needed in the Member States’ energy-generating mix if the European Union is to meet its 2050 goal to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 80-95 % compared to 1990 levels, according to a new European Environment Agency (EEA) report published today. While the European Union has made considerable progress in improving energy efficiency and using renewable energy sources, a well-planned transition out of carbon-intensive power generation is needed to meet the long-term aim of creating a low-carbon society.
