Several attacks hitting different locations in Baghdad today and deliberately targeting civilians, left many people dead and more wounded. Our thoughts go to the victims and their families.

These tragic events underline the fragility of the security situation in Iraq. The EU will spare no efforts to support the Iraqi government in its fight against terrorism and its quest for peace and stability for all the Iraqi people.

Thank you very much Lubomir.

Well, first of all it is really a pleasure for me to have my first visit within the European Union of 2016 here in Prague and to find you in good health.

High Representative Federica Mogherini travelled to Prague on Monday 11 January for an official Visit to the Czech Republic. On her agenda were meetings with Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka, Foreign Minister Lubomír Zaorálek and representatives from the Czech Parliament.

The attack on an MSF health centre in Razeh district, northern Yemen, which resulted in several casualties and many wounded today is unacceptable. Our thoughts and condolences are with the families and colleagues of those affected at this time.

This tragic incident is the latest of a series of attacks on medical facilities and medical personnel recorded in Yemen since the start of the conflict. Such attacks that target humanitarian operations and civilians are clearly prohibited under International Humanitarian Law (IHL).

Participation of ENP partners in EU programmes and agencies is a mean to promote reform and modernisation in the EU’s neighbourhood and strengthen administrative and regulatory convergence of partner countries with the EU.

While the talks held in Vienna and New York in recent months are expected to launch the peace process for Syria, the humanitarian situation in the country remains dramatic: civilian populations are under siege in many areas and are being forced to live in appalling conditions with no access to food supplies or aid.
